A London Elopement with colourful Street Art
Jade and Rob’s London Elopement was the smallest we have ever shot. Tiny, simple and beautiful. Bride and groom and two witnesses (Bride’s friend and Me). Ceremony at Hackney Town Hall and then, to seal the love and commitment, a photoshoot around Shoreditch . Nice!
A few things we learnt from this elopement. When you are the photographer and also serve as a witness, you can’t photograph the ceremony. Weird rule, but the registerer wanted to follow it.
From my perspective as an Alternative wedding photographer, this was kinda unfair with the couple. After all they hired us to document these moments. There was no one in the room and after shooting hundreds of weddings I really know whats happening. Anyway the registerer only allowed photos when and after the first kiss happened.
How long is the ideal time coverage for your photos?
How long do you need for couple portraits? Well, the rule is: the longer the better! More time means more photos, more variety of backdrops and locations. Ideally you want to book us for at least 2.5h for a similar setting to Jade and Rob’s elopement in Hackney Town Hall. For this set we shot around a few pre-planned streets in Shoreditch. It’s good to check in advance the best spots and what’s new. We do love the urban vibes and street art in this area.
